mountain yoga

Saturdays, 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Level: Beginner - Intermediate
Location: Max Patch
Pisgah National Forest/Hot Springs, NC

Please allow 60-75 minutes to drive from Asheville (45 miles) and arrive 5-10 minutes early.

Imagine doing yoga outside on a soft, grassy bald, invigorated by beautiful, panoramic mountain views as far as the eye can see. This is our Mountain Yoga class at Max Patch, part of Pisgah National Forest and the famous Appalachian Trail.

We’ll hike between 1 and 3 miles as well as practice mediation and at least an hour to an hour and a half of yoga. The trails are rather easy but well worn, which can sometimes make them slippery, especially after a rain, so make sure you wear shoes with some good tread and/or feel free to bring walking sticks or poles.

Positive physiological and mental benefits of both yoga and reconnecting with nature have been reported including reduction of pain, stress and inflammation as well as better sleep.

In the event of cancellation due to weather, you will be issued a refund.

Afterwards: There are plenty of spots throughout the bald where you can have a picnic or set up camp overnight where you will see some spectacular sunsets, sunrises and starry night skies. There is also a winding trail through the forest if you fancy more hiking. The town of Hot Springs are also nearby, but make sure you book in advance to guarantee you can enjoy a natural soak in the springs. Address: 315 Bridge Street, Hot Springs, NC.
